For the past six seasons, A&E has produced the Emmy®-nominated series . Intervention. Viewer response has been extraordinary and the network has witnessed first-hand both the impact of addiction and the possibility for recovery. Inspired by their work on the series and in the community, A&E created The Recovery Project to raise awareness that addiction is a treatable disease and recovery is possible.

Below is a link to a short video about the Rally in NYC in September (National Recovery Month

The Recovery Project was created to raise national awareness that addiction is a treatable disease and recovery is possible by supporting leading organizations in prevention and treatment.

RECOVERY RALLY: Join us in NYC on September 12th to celebrate the 20th anniversary of National Recovery Month. In partnership with National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Faces and Voices of Recovery and the 2009 Recovery Month Planning Partners, thousands of people from across the country will celebrate recovery together for a historic walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.  Sound like a blast? I wish I could go but I’m starting a new job.

Just for Today: My body will heal a little, my mind will become a little clearer, and my relationship with my God will strengthen.

A new word for our vocabulary. If you are in recovery from substance abuse and are anything like me, in my final days of my active disease, my vocabulary had been reduced to four-letter words and many of them weren’t so nice. In recovery, we love to grow and learn. I’ve always had a fascination with words and I’d like to spread this contagion.

At the bottom of some of my posts, I will feature a word of the day so that we can start rebuilding our vocabulary as we rebuild our lives. I’m here to grow and I hope you are too so here we go…

dalliance \DAL-ee-uhns, DAL-yuhns\, noun:

1. Frivolous spending of time; dawdling.
2. Playful flirtation.

The acceptance of the role as artistic directors of the company is not a dalliance, she said yesterday. “It is an absolute, firm commitment.”
– Angela Bennie, “Blanchett: theatre job ‘no dalliance’”, Sydney Morning Herald, November 11, 2006
